The evolution of a drawing

Throughout July I was in the mood to do some artwork. I did two similar, yet very different drawings at Landslejr where I didn't know what to draw, so I just drew something random, and "art" came out of it.
But after Landslejr, I was still in the mood to draw, but this time something more specific. I wanted to draw the SMT-team who visited us this Summer

I got a new phone, so I tried out its camera, and documented the process of making the drawing.

First, I chose a picture of Team Denmark I found, as a foundation to work from
From that I drew a general outline for all six present

One by one, I would sketch them out in detail – first Sean

Chaslyn

Sam

Lyndsey

Lauren

And finally, Jake. I was contemplating whether to call the drawing finished here, but I decided not to

Instead I decided to colourise the drawing

I started with colours that I would use multiple times, because I thought I wouldn’t need them again afterwards – I was wrong

As the layers of colour were added…

…the features of the pencil drawing slowly vanished

So I brought out a black pen, to redraw them as they were needed

After colouring Sean’s water bottle, I again contemplated calling it finished here

But, then I got a little carried away with my colours, and came up with a background as I went along

Well, now I had a background for the drawing, what then?
Shading, of course

Some more flowers, and some bushes

Added some outlines to the clouds, and various shades of green in the grass, and blue in the sky and river

Et voila! My drawing is complete
